A week to get out of your head, back into your body, and open to coming home to who you already are.
Whether you are new to Yoga or a Seasoned Practitioner, this week is for you!
What if your next yoga retreat wasn’t about going further, stretching deeper, or mastering a pose, but about discovering what happens when you slow down enough to listen to yourself?
Root to Rise is a therapeutic and functional yoga retreat for all bodies, all ages, and all levels of experience, whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practicing for decades. Guided by Jacqueline Burbage, E-RYT and Certified Yoga Therapist, this is an invitation to explore yoga through a different lens, one that values presence over performance and connection over perfection.
With a trauma-sensitive, nervous system-informed approach, every practice offers variations and adjustments to meet you where you are. There’s no expectation to keep up, push through, or make your body fit a particular shape. Instead, we’ll explore gentle somatic movement, functional therapeutic yoga, breath, and mindful awareness as ways to deepen your relationship with your body and the wisdom it holds.
Imagine beginning your morning with the Pacific Ocean stretching out before you, the sounds of monkeys and tropical birds in the distance, and the warmth of Costa Rica surrounding you. Away from the familiar demands of daily life, there’s space to breathe a little deeper, move with greater curiosity, rest without rushing, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that can get lost beneath the busyness of everyday living.
This is a journey inward, with the beauty of Costa Rica as your backdrop. You’ll have opportunities to cultivate greater body awareness, explore what helps you feel grounded and supported, and develop practical tools to carry into your life long after the retreat ends.
You can expect to leave feeling rooted yet expanded — more connected to your body, more in your balance in your nervous system, and more resourced to meet life with confidence, ease, and self-trust. This is more than a yoga retreat; it is an opportunity to remember who you are beneath the expectations, the busyness, and the constant doing.
You’ll return home not only restored, but renewed — carrying practical tools, embodied awareness, and a deeper sense of wholeness that will continue to support you long after the retreat ends.
Anamaya Resort & Retreat Center was recently recognized by the National Geographic as one of the World's Best Wellness Destinations for 2026.
See What Awaits You In Montezuma, Costa Rica…
Imagine leaving behind the cold, the grey, the constant layering… and arriving somewhere warm, soft, and alive.
The air is different here.
The pace is different.
You are different here.
At Root to Rise, your body begins to unwind almost without effort — shoulders drop, breath deepens, the nervous system softens. There’s nothing to push, nothing to prove, nowhere to rush to. Just the quiet invitation to slow down and listen again.
Through gentle, somatic yoga and mindful exploration, you reconnect to a steadiness that’s been there all along — a calm strength that doesn’t come from force, but from presence. And from that grounded place, something begins to open… a sense of clarity, of space, of coming back into alignment with yourself.
Days unfold naturally. You might move, or rest. Explore, or stay still. Follow the pull of the ocean, the warmth of the sun, the rhythm of your own energy. There’s a kind of freedom here — to choose, to feel, to simply be.
This is a space to thaw.
Not just from the weather, but from the ways you’ve been holding yourself together.
And as the week gently unfolds, you may notice something shifting —
a lightness in your body,
a quiet in your mind,
a deeper trust in yourself.
You leave feeling warmer, yes…
but also clearer, more rooted, more whole.
Like you’ve returned to something essential.
Like you’ve come home to yourself.

In February, Costa Rica experiences warm, sunny and dry weather with average temperatures around 86°F, making lightweight, breathable clothing like loose cotton pants, tank tops, and short-sleeved shirts ideal for a yoga retreat.
Prioritize stretchy, quick-drying fabrics and consider bringing a light beach cover-up.
Here are a few key clothing items to pack:
Bottoms:
Lightweight yoga pants (multiple pairs)
Yoga shorts
Flowy, loose-fitting cotton pants
Comfortable shorts for casual wear
Tops:
Tank tops
Loose-fitting T-shirts
Sports bras
Light, breathable blouses
Cover-ups:
Sarong
Light kimono or kaftan
Important considerations:
Sun protection: Bring a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen, as the sun can be intense.
Bug Repellant

Please note I always recommend and strongly suggest for this to be an alcohol and drug free week. Consider it a detox on all levels. Take a break from your daily life, habits and distractions. Smoking is also prohibited. Cell phones are discouraged from being used around the group. Loud private phone calls will not be tolerated in public areas or in group transportation vehicles. Please consider this a time to go inward, seriously feel and be with yourself - all of you. If you allow it, this week can be and is meant to be healing + transformational.
With that said, you are an adult and can choose on your own. Please just note that if harsh or disruptive behavior is experienced you will be asked not to return to the group classes.
“Jacqueline is highly intuitive and shares a wealth of practices that help bring what needs to be healed to the Light. With 8 other women in the retreat who now I'm blessed to call my friends, I still felt seen, heard and understood. Jacqueline is professional, compassionate and teaches with a sense of humor, vulnerability and authenticity. Spiritual healing is not an easy journey, nor a short one, but I highly recommend this retreat if you're seeking to heal your life and transform it.”

Love Notes from Past Retreats
“I returned home with applicable tools of self care and self love. I also returned home with a tribe, a group of women we bonded over the experiences offered to us this week. If you are looking to unplug, grow, connect, and tap into your inner wisdom for healing, this is the week to experience it.”
- M.B.
“Jacqueline is proficient and experienced in many somatic and yoga approaches that suit different people and experiences. I appreciated every practice she offered. And the bonus is that Ecuador, the villas, and the beach are beautiful! The food was incomparable. This retreat is a MUST!”
- F.W.
“The Yoga Therapy Retreat in Ecuador is without a doubt, life changing. This was my first yoga retreat and I am grateful to have participated in this humbling and nurturing experience. The healthy organic foods, the comfort of the villas and the beautiful excursions were incredible and luxurious but the daily yoga sessions with Jacqueline, triumphs all.”
